Mara are delighted to announce they have won a Scottish Edge award, receiving £50,000 of funding, which will help us to spread the Mara love and export our Scottish seaweed to seaweed fans further East.
The award is a recognition of Mara’s innovative business as the UK’s only producer of seaweed seasonings, able to turn a low cost resource into a high value food that meets consumer needs.The ceremony was held on Tuesday 9th December at RBS’s Conference Centre in Gogarburn, Edinburgh.
The EDGE (Encouraging Dynamic Growth Entrepreneurs) is a dragon’s den style competition awarding ambition and entrepreneurism. The Scottish EDGE is led by a Board of seasoned entrepreneurs, bankers and public sector supporters. In essence Scottish EDGE is a £5m+ fund endowed by serial entrepreneur Sir Tom Hunter, the Royal Bank of Scotland PLC and the Scottish Government.
