Seaweed seems to be on the agenda at the moment – Mara’s SeEO, Fiona, was quoted in the Daily Mail as saying: “Just three years ago people thought I was crazy and were so sceptical. But that’s all changed now. There is a multi-billion pound market worldwide and we’re building a food brand that Scotland can be proud of.”
Mara has now got a listing in 173 Marks and Spencer shops across the UK, which means we can really reach out to lots of new people and spread the seaweed love!
There is also another brilliant business doing innovative things with seaweed, now stocked in M&S, Pembrokeshire Beach Food Company. Their ethos is ‘to bring a little bit of the beach to you, wherever you are’ through innovation, sustainability, quality and good relationships.
We felt an affiliation with Pembrokeshire Beach Food through our shared beginnings – the desire to get outside and explore Britain’s wild beaches and show everyone the delicious tastes of our native seaweed, and all that you can do with it – and what it can do for you!
So we teamed up with Pembrokeshire Beach Food for a competition to offer you a double whammy of prizes: a Mara seaweed fish kit- containing Dulse, Shony and Kombu shaker tins with 3 delicious fish recipes PLUS Pembrokeshire Beach Food’s ‘Variety Lover’ hamper -the perfect hamper for the creative home cook! This contains: Welshman's Caviar, Mermaid Confetti, Captain Cat's Mor Seasoning and Ship's Biscuits.
To enter the prize draw we would love to see a photo of your favourite beach which you can post on our Facebook page, tag in The Pembrokeshire Beach Food Company and write #SeasideLove then share it with your friends. To be completely democratic and fair - the photo with the most likes will be the winner!
Competition ends at midnight on Sunday 7th June.
