In celebration of Slow Food

Slow Food International and Slow Food UK are hosted an event at Borough Market in London today, Thursday 4 December, with Carlo Petrini (Founder and President of Slow Food International). The purpose of this event was to highlight the overall work of Slow Food internationally, and to talk specifically about the 10,000 Gardens in Africa project.

Gardens for education and biodiversity

The project aims to set up between 1,000 and 10,000 new gardens, while at the same time promoting local consumption and the education of future generations.

The network is also working to promote the profile of African biodiversity and food culture, as well as to raise both citizens’ and politicians’ awareness of important political campaigns. For instance, against the introduction of GMOs, land grabbing and the devastating impact of monocultures.

Mara Seaweed Dulse is a certified Slow Food, and we provided some to be tasted with bread dipped in oil for the event. We hope it was a success!
