Homemade granola recipe with seaweed instead of salt, is a healthy and delicious breakfast to get you going in the morning. Most of the store-bought stuff is high in sugar, contains unhealthy fats and oils, and is packed full of fillers and unnecessary ingredients. Making your own at home is very easy, quick, and allows you to control the amount of sugar (and pack in the seaweed nutrients!), while also giving you the chance to tailor it to your own tastes.
60g unskinned almonds
40g brazil nuts
400g whole rolled oats
60g pumpkin seeds
60g sunflower seeds
100g dried apricots, roughly chopped
60g dried cranberries
1 tsp Dulse or toasted Shony
2 tbsp coconut or sunflower oil
120ml maple syrup
120ml runny honey
Set oven to 150°C.
Roughly chop all the nuts and mix together with the oats- leave aside the dried fruit.
Heat up the oil, maple syrup and honey. Mix together with the nuts and oats and spread evenly across a baking tray.
Put in the oven for 40 minutes, stirring it once to toast it evenly.
Once out of the oven mix in the dried fruit and seaweed while still warm. When it has cooled put in an air-tight jar.
Eat with yoghurt and apple compote or stewed plums for breakfast.
