  • 1 tbsp veg oil
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

FOR THE SPICY MAYO:

  • 3 tbsp mayo
  • 1 tbsp sriracha sauce

METHOD

Instructions:

  1. In a frying pan, add the olive oil and cook the white onion and garlic until translucent on a medium low heat.

  2. Remove from the pan, add to a large mixing bowl and leave to cool. Once cooled add the mince, Shony flakes, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, parsley and season to taste. Mix well until fully combined.

  3. Shape the mixture into 2 patties, cover and refrigerate for at least 20 mins.

  4. Cut your potatoes into thin chips, trying to keep them all the same size. Soak them in cold water for 10 mins, then drain and pat dry with paper towels.

  5. In a bowl, mix the potatoes, shony flakes, oil, onion powder, salt and pepper. Air fry for 20 mins at 200C or bake in the oven for 40 mins at 200C, or until golden and crispy.

  6. Mix the mayo ingredients and set aside in the fridge.

  7. Once the burger patties have become firmer, remove from the fridge and cook in a medium heat frying pan with oil.

  8. Flip the burger when it’s golden brown and place on a cheese slice to melt. Cook on the other side until golden and the burger is cooked through.

  9. Toast your burger buns, and add some spicy mayo.

  10. Serve the burger topped with lettuce, red onion and tomatoes, or your own favourite toppings. Add the Shony chips at the side with a dollop of spicy mayo.
