EDGE funding awarded to Mara
We're delighted to announce we've won a Scottish Edge award, receiving £50,000 of funding at a ceremony held on Tuesday 9th December at RBS’s Conference Centre in Gogarburn, Edinburgh. The money will help us spread the Mara love and export our Scottish seaweed to fans further East.
The award is a recognition of Mara’s innovative business as the UK’s only producer of seaweed seasonings. The judges were impressed with our ability to turn a low cost resource into a high value food that meets consumer needs.
About the EDGE award
The EDGE (Encouraging Dynamic Growth Entrepreneurs) is a Dragon’s Den style competition awarding ambition and entrepreneurism. The Scottish EDGE is led by a Board of experienced entrepreneurs, bankers and public sector supporters. In essence, Scottish EDGE is a £5m+ fund endowed by serial entrepreneur Sir Tom Hunter, the Royal Bank of Scotland PLC and the Scottish Government.
