Watch: Mara Seaweed at World Food Innovation Awards

Up against some big players
It's been a week since the results of the prestigious World Food Innovation Awards were announced. We're still overjoyed at how well Mara Seaweed was received, and that Dulse won Best New Artisan Food.
The awards, which were hosted by FoodBev Media at London's Hotelympia event, saw over 240 entries from 25 countries. Every year the awards welcome entries from some of the biggest names in the industry, including Pepsi, Coca-Cola, Heineken, Arla and Danone, as well as exciting new start-ups from around the world.
Mara products come out on top
We're really proud we managed to stave off so much other outstanding and innovative competition. All three of our entered products either won an award or were a finalist in their respective categories.
This year was the first year of the Artisan Food category, so we are naturally very happy that our Dulse flakes won! We were up against some very interesting products: you'll find an overview in the video below.
New condiment contender
We entered our 'perfect for everyday use' Shony seaweed flakes into the Best New Condiment category. Although we didn't win, we were a finalist alongside Fortisalt by Mineral Resources International. The category winner was Hot Beetroot Ketchup by Foraging Fox.
New ingredient finalist
Our Kombu seaweed flakes were also a finalist in the Best New Ingredient category alongside IASC Atlantic Seafood Company's Umami Pearls, but it was Fortisalt by Mineral Resources International that took home the winning trophy for this category.
Onward and upward
Not quite a clean sweep, but we definitely can't complain. Our results from the awards are a very encouraging sign that seaweed is becoming more and more accepted as a part of our daily diets. Roll on the rest of 2016 - it's definitely the year of seaweed!
